So Much Going On

I have had so much going on.  First we have a new great niece in the family.  Her name is Hannah Kate and she was born on July 28th.

Second we have been busy working on the ministry quilts for our church.  We have handed 3 out so far and we are finishing up another one to be giving hopefully Sunday.  One went to a precious family who adopted a sweet little baby girl.

This one went to a man who was diagnosed with leukemia and after going through chemo has been told he is cancer free.

This one went to a man that had a stroke and is recovering very well.
Our group has done an amazing job with these quilts.

I also made a Florida/University of Tennessee quilt for our nephew who got married in March.  He is a Volunteer fan and our new niece is a Gator fan - Gasp LOL.  It was a beautiful wedding and we are very blessed have her in the family.

I have also made a couple of baby quilts for members at church who have had little ones.

Next I have very busy with our garden.  Lots of veggies coming in.  I have canned 24 pints of dill pickles.  My first attempt at them.  I made cream corn out of 10 dozen ears of corn to go in the freezer and I have made 9 1/2 pints of hot salsa so far with more to be made.  We have also given away a lot of veggies and my Mom has put up 21 quarts of green beans from our garden.

I haven't taken pics of the salsa yet, but I will.

I am also work on this quilt for our ministry plus a disappearing 9-patch.

I made 25 flower power blocks for a swap that a few friends did.  I got the swapped blocks back this week so I am now ready to assemble them into a quilt. I did this one.
This is what it looks like after they are cut and swapped.

Shelter Quilts

My friend Connie and I have been busy bees making quilts for our local homeless shelter. We have completed 8 quilts for them. We wanted to do something to make it feel a little more like home for the people who will be staying there.

They had their dedication on the 18th and that's when we gave them the quilts then. They were very grateful to get them.

Here are pics of the completed quilts. Each had a comforting Bible verse on them.

Calling All Scraps

Good Morning Everyone!

I am part of a ministry at my church called Ministries in Motion, Inc. (MIMI) and I am starting a quilting ministry as a part of MIMI.  It is called Faith, Hope, Love.  We will be making comfort quilts for members, non-members, etc that may be dealing with cancer or other serious health issues, someone that may have a death in the family, or someone that is just going through a really hard time and needs a little comfort and to know that they are loved.

We are just starting out and would appreciate any donation of quilting fabric, scraps, that you don't want anymore.  If you are interested in helping us please comment on this post and include your email address.

I hope you all have a very blessed day!

Making Progress

Well, I didn't get a quilt loaded and quilted last weekend but I did manage finish the last two clues of Bonnie's En Provence Mystery. I have now sat the mystery aside as I have a wedding quilt to start that needs to be finished and in Ocala, Florida on March 9th.

Our Nephew is getting married to a wonderful girl. He is a Tennessee Vols fan and she is a Florida Gators fan so I am doing pillowcases for each team and a quilt that is mixed between the two teams. I can't wait to see their faces when they open it.

Happy New Year Everyone!

I hope that your new year got off to a great start.  I spent mine working on Clue # 3 and # 4 of Bonnie Hunter's En Provence Mystery Quilt. Then I slept through the ball dropping lol.  We were supposed to go out with friends but hubby wasn't feeling the best so we stayed home.

I am finished with Clue # 4, Clue # 5 and I started pulling strips for Clue # 6.  I hope to have it finished by Friday and then start on to the next clue.

Oh we also had a sew day on Friday the 30th and I finished Clue # 2 and started on Clue #3.
