"Vanilla Fields" Progress

I have been making some progress on the Vanilla Fields quilt.  Here is where it is at as of Sunday, Jan 31st.  In this pic I have block pieces ready to sew together and in the second pic these need to be cut into half square triangles.

As of Monday, February 1st it turned into this:

and on Tuesday I got all the middle section sewed together and over the weekend finished the blocks by putting the wing triangles on.

What I've Been Working On!

We have had two snow events in the past week and a half.  The first one hubby had to come and get me from work as I no longer have a 4-wheel drive.  We do have two trucks that have 4-wheel drive but we traded my Blazer that had it back in November and I miss it.  I now have a Buick Enclave and it is only front wheel drive.  We had a lot of ice in the first round so I played it safe and left my car at the office.

With the snow also came a sinus infection so I missed worked the day after it snowed.  I'm finally feeling better though, with that came some sewing time.  I have been working on the "Vanilla Fields" quilt that I started in class a few weeks ago.  I also pulled out the UFO "Talking Turkey" from a class I took with Bonnie Hunter a couple years ago.  I have been making flying geese and have about a third of them done, will have to cut some more corners for them.  I have also been making sting blocks and will need to cut some more reds for variety in those.

We have retreat coming up in March and I hope to have the "Vanilla Fields" top complete and have enough completed on "Talking Turkey" to finish it at retreat along with a couple other quick projects that I will be taking.

I hope to at least start pulling fabrics for our Guild Project for the Hospitality House that is due in October of this year.  We are to choose one or two of the cancer colors to do a quilt from.  I am thinking a Log Cabin block.  We will see a little later if I stick to that or choose a different block.

Happy Stitching Everyone!

Guild Class "Vanilla Fields"

Back on the Saturday the 9th, we had a workshop that was taught by one of our guild members. We had about 19 in attendance and everyone had a great time cutting, stitching and learning as well as cutting up with everyone there.

The class was called "Vanilla Fields" and we had two options of colors to use. One was tone on tone in creams - anywhere from white to tans and the other option was scrappy.  I choose scrappy in civil wars and creams.  This is the color palette I chose.
