Retreat Weekend

The first full weekend in November and in March are our Retreat Weekends at Pine Mountain State Park.  I have thoroughly enjoyed being able to go for the last two years for both weekends.  But this year had a snag.

My Dear Sweet Hubby had major back surgery the first week of October.  He was doing great, then the end of the 3rd week of October he wound up with an infection.  Thanks to our awesome God, it was not staff, strep or MRSA.  It was just a common infection that most of us carry in our bodies.  He was on IV antibiotics until the 19th and everything is clear and he is good to go.

So with all of this going on I had to cancel almost all of my retreat.  I did manage to go up on Saturday and spend the day with my quilting friends and work on a few projects.
Here are some pics from retreat - enjoy!

My First Quilt on Lucey McGillicuddy

Since my training was postpones, I had a friend that has a longarm come down and show me some things about using my Lucey on Saturday.

I learned how to use the laser and the pantographs and was able to quilt my first quilt.  Yippee!!!  It was a challenge to say the least as this is the first time I have ever used a longarm other than playing with them at the quilt shows.

I am going to need lots of practice to get this right.  There are a lot of errors in this one but overall for my first quilt I am pleased.  Here are a few pics.

This is where I was putting the binding on the top to be hand stitched down on the back.

I have also been working on Bonnie Hunter's Celtic Solstice.  This one has been in progress for a while and I am hoping to get a lot done before the new mystery comes out.
And this is my sweet Jake snoozing, he is a pretty good boy.  He thinks he is a lap dog and has to have his snuggle time in my lap every morning. lol.

Happy Stitching Everyone!

Update On Quilting Room and Lucey

It's been a while since I last posted.  Lots has been going on.

First off I did complete some of the items on the list below.

1.  Get lights, design wall and curtain rod up in quilting room. - Lights are up and working.  Curtain rod and curtains are up.  Still no design wall.
2.  Finish putting all fabric away on shelves. - 95% Complete.
3.  Purchase another shelve for storage. - Complete and filled up .
4.  Get desk moved out of quilting room. - This has been done.

With all of this done I was able to have Lucey McGillicuddy delivered at the end of September.

Poor Dear Hubby had another major back surgery on the 3rd of October so Lucey was in boxes until after we got him home.

We had a kid that helps out around the house help me set her up.

She is working great. I have only practiced a little on her as poor Hubby got an infection at the bottom of his incision and had to go back into the hospital for 5 days.  Luckily it was a common one that most of us carry and wasn't MRSA, Staff or Strep.  He is on IV antibiotics for two and a half more weeks but doing great.

Because of all of this I had to postpone my training on Lucey until December.  It was supposed to be this past weekend.  Luckily I have a friend that has a long arm and she is going to come and show me some things so I can be practicing before training.

I had a birthday in September and Hubby got me the perfect cake.  He is definitely a keeper.
